Search Engine Optimisation, otherwise known as SEO, is the process of undertaking onsite and offsite activities for your website, in order to get your site to the top of the natural rankings on search engines. You can read more about SEO on our SEO Services page.
Why isn’t my website on page 1 of Google?
There are many reasons why your site might not yet be on page 1. It could be the coding, the content, the age of your site or even the fact that your competitors are working more aggressively on SEO than you are. MooMu Media can help you find out where your site is falling behind in SEO, and what you can do to remedy that. Feel free to email or call us for a no obligation discussion about where your site could improve.
How much does SEO cost?
Unlike some providers, MooMu Media does not provide SEO packages, so we can’t give you a cost for a ‘Gold’, ‘Silver’ or ‘Bronze’ package, (for example). This is because every site is unique and will require its own SEO strategy and we don’t want to charge you for things you don’t need.
It is easy to get an SEO quote from MooMu Media – simply call or email us with your URL and we will be happy to have a look through your website and put together a quote outlining tasks, hours and total costs.
When you work with MooMu Media, you will know exactly where your money is being spent.
When Should We Start on SEO?
We might let Google answer this one:
If you’re thinking about hiring an SEO, the earlier the better. A great time to hire is when you’re considering a site redesign, or planning to launch a new site. That way, you and your SEO can ensure that your site is designed to be search engine-friendly from the bottom up. However, a good SEO can also help improve an existing site.
When will we see results?
SEO is not a quick fix solution – if you are looking for speed, you might want to consider Pay Per Click marketing.
In the meantime, working on your SEO can help improve the overall health of your website, and will gradually bring you more and more traffic. Depending on the competitiveness of your industry, the time until you get results could be weeks or months – MooMu Media will advise you on this prior to project commencement.
Because of the time it takes to undertake SEO activities, and then the time it takes for Google to recognise your efforts, it is advisable to get started with SEO as soon as possible. For example, if you are building a new website, it is best practice to incorporate SEO into the initial design and build.
Can we rank for (super competitive keyword)?
Of course you can – but you need to keep in mind that sites ranking for very competitive keywords are likely spending a lot of time and resources optimising their sites. MooMu Media can advise you on the best way to allocate your Search marketing budget to make sure you are getting the most for your money. This might be by targeting super competitive keywords, or it might be by targeting local or long tail terms.
Can we rank for (huge list of keywords)? Of course you can – but again, this won’t be a quick fix solution. Depending on the length of your keyword list, you might need quite a bit of both time and budget.
MooMu Media can advise you on the best way to allocate your SEO budget, to make sure you are getting the best outcomes for your website. We work with you to create a prioritised keyword list right at the beginning of a campaign, and we revisit it often.
How long does it take to get indexed by Google?
Google needs minutes to weeks to index your site, but there are some things we can do to speed it up. You do not need to pay Google, or anyone else, to have your site ‘indexed’. Nor do you need to submit your site to search engines.
Which Search engines should I concentrate on?
In Australia, it is likely that the majority of your search traffic will come from Google search. So for most Australian search campaigns, we would concentrate on optimising for Google. Note, however, that our optimisation techniques will benefit you in most search engines, not just Google.
Other countries may have different search engine preferences. For example, many Asian countries have higher usages of search engines other than Google. Japan and Hong Kong have higher incidence of Yahoo users, Korea’s most popular search engine is Naver and China’s most popular is Baidu.
Why can’t my graphic designer/web designer/web developer/social-media-intern do my SEO?
SEO should be part of website design, but it is also part web development and coding, content creation, public relations, advertising and social media. Dedicated SEO experts will understand how to put all these facets together to create a robust SEO strategy – whereas experts in any one of these isolated fields will have less idea about the bigger SEO picture.
In addition, SEO is a constantly changing field. Working full time in SEO makes it easier for SEO experts to keep up with the changing rules and algorithms, trialling different strategies, learning what works and researching what can be damaging.
Why should we outsource our SEO?
SEO is becoming an increasingly popular marketing strategy, making it more competitive to get top spots, but at the same time, more crucial than ever to do so. Add to that the increasing complexity of, and regular changes to, search engine algorithms, and you will see how difficult it can be to stay on top of every SEO related factor.
This is why our clients hire MooMu Media – either to outsource their entire SEO campaign or to educate and direct their own SEO team.
Outsourcing to us means that you can quickly spearhead your SEO campaign, without having to reinvent the wheel or teach yourself. We can hold your hand and give you the experience you need to get your search campaign underway.
It also means that you benefit from a fresh perspective, and the experience of an SEO team who are currently working on many different sites – allowing us to bring new ideas and perspectives to the table.
Working with dedicated SEO experts can also give you peace of mind, knowing that your site is in experienced, responsible hands. We have high level, in-depth experience optimising a huge range of web properties around the world – and we want to share that knowledge with you.
Doesn’t Google hate SEO?
No, this is a complete myth. Google actively supports SEOs. They offer SEO advice online, at conferences and even provide a number of SEO tools. They communicate openly with the SEO community, particularly through their representative, Matt Cutts.
Will SEO ruin my beautiful web design?
Some people still assume that SEO is used to optimise your site for search engines at the expense of human users. However, most SEO, and especially that undertaken by MooMu Media, is done with the human user in mind as well as Google. Search engines want to have the most relevant search results for their human users – so what is good for your users (like excellent content & easy navigation) will also be appreciated by search engines.
What is black hat SEO?
Black hat SEO refers to SEO techniques which are used to manipulate the search engines against Google’s rules, and in such ways that do not benefit users. MooMu Media does not utilise black hat SEO techniques.
Why am I #1 when I search, but when my mum searches for me she can’t find me?
This could be due to a few things – if your mum is in another country, she probably will have different results to you. But if you are in the same area, the difference could be due to Google’s personalised search.
When you are logged in to your Google Account, for example via Gmail, your Google searches will be recorded in your Google web history. When you do a search, your search results will not be based on the normal Google algorithm of relevancy alone, they will also take into account your search and web history, and try to show you more relevant sites to you personally. If you often choose your site from search results, Google could promote it in the search results it shows you. Unless your mum is logged in as you, she won’t see the same thing.
